We were in an endgame situation, so there were few pieces left on the board.
The key pieces were set up similar to this:
Black Pawn on K11
Yellow Queen on K12
White King on I9
It is white's turn.
White wanted to move to J10 in order to protect the Black pawn from the Yellow queen.
However, the white king was not allowed to move to J10. J10 was marked with a blue circle, which I believe indicates moving there would cause check.
The only theory we could come up with was that the black pawn was incorrectly preventing the king from moving.
It would make sense for the king not to be able to move there if the pawn were yellow, thus moving in the opposite direction.
It is possible that the geometry of the board made us unable to see what was actually preventing the king from moving. There were still other pieces on the board, but I don't remember what/where they were. |
